UI MODERNIZATION

The updated and modernized user interface makes working in Vectorworks more efficient and easier to customize. The reorganized View and Mode bars bring a wide range of tools to the forefront, so you can decide how to organize and have everything you need right where you need it. And Dark Mode is now available on both Windows and Mac.

SHADED RENDERING SHADOWS AND CAMERA EFFECTS

Create higher levels of realism earlier in your design process with improvements to Shaded rendering. Take advantage of unlimited shadow casting in real-time processing to assess your designs more confidently on the fly and quickly determine lighting, camera, and material setup so you can create better visuals more quickly.

• GENERAL

  The shaded options dialog now includes direct access to lighting controls, like ambient and environmental lighting, and Renderworks background controls.

• CAMERA SETTINGS

  Access all new camera settings that allow you to define depth of field, exposure, and the ability to add bloom for camera-like effects on your shaded render views.

FASTER RENDERED SECTION GENERATION

Creating rendered sections and navigating your sectioned or clipped model will now be faster than ever before with re-engineered section viewport with Renderworks. You'll get faster and more reliable processing of a model's visible geometry and more efficient creation of section viewports, speeding up your workflow and optimizing your design process.

VIEWPORT STYLES

With new Viewport Styles in Vectorworks 2024, you'll be able to save custom viewport settings as styles, making them easily transferrable between viewports and project files. You'll be able to cut out the tedium of replicating your viewport settings and avoid errors.Watch Video

  Create custom styles that let you change scale or class and layer visibility so you can change from client-facing drawings to more detailed construction plans quickly and easily.

• SECTION AND ELEVATION

  Quickly generate presentations from your section viewports by changing class visibilities, cut plane attributes, and visibilities at the cut plane and beyond.

• 3D “PERSPECTIVES”

  Easily interchange different rendering modes, foreground and background rendering settings, and image effects. You can also save your data visualisation settings as Viewport Styles for faster application.

PROJECT SHARING+

Project Sharing has been rebuilt in Vectorworks 2024 to better ensure project data and geometry is the most current in a project file. Project Sharing+ tracks every change, every time, giving you one less thing to check in your quality assurance process and substantially improved stability regardless of the size of your team or project.

3D DRAGGER VISUAL IMPROVEMENTS

Experience more freedom when transforming your models. The new 3D Dragger will always appear in front of the selected objects for easy access, and contextual handles for translation, rotation, and scale provide comprehensive and intuitive ways to transform selected objects without disruptions. EXCEL REFERENCING

Experience better connectivity to external project data stored in Excel files. With the new Microsoft Excel referencing capabilities, you'll be able to create a new reference in Vectorworks, meaning you can opt for automatic updates to referenced files. Additionally, you can make changes in Vectorworks and push the data back to Excel.Watch Video

DWG IMPORT/EXPORT OPTIMIZATION

Eliminate tedious file cleanup with the optimization of DWG import/export capabilities. You'll also save time with a simplified file structure during import that also includes graphic overrides of layer and class settings. Even better, DWG and DXF file export use viewport settings to reduce duplicated data and maintain optimized file sizes.

FOR ARCHITECTS, INTERIOR DESIGNERS AND CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONALS

Phase 2: Schematic Design Foster your creative vision with intuitive drawing tools supported by a flexible and easy-to-use modelling engine that’s perfect for space planning and programming. Easily transition from massing models to a BIM model, visualise concepts with integrated 3D rendering, and share high-quality graphics with your entire team through Vectorworks Cloud Services.

Phase 3: Design Development As project detail increases, Vectorworks Architect facilitates smooth consultant coordination and aids cost estimation — all while refining design decisions. Intelligent information modelling keeps data exactly where you need it and ensures painless data reporting.

Phase 4: Construction Documentation Using 3D data-driven tools from project inception maintains model quality while making construction documentation a breeze. Vectorworks Architect’s BIM tools means updates to your model automatically updates documentation. WORK AS A PROJECT TEAM

Vectorworks Architect supports a wide range of file formats, so you can easily share files with members of the wider project team. For example, you can import and export DWG (AutoCAD), PDF, IFC (Industry Foundation Classes—BIM), DWF and many more formats. You can even bring in Sketchup files and make the most of the library of items in the SketchUp Warehouse.

Once the project is set up, take advantage of the Project Sharing facility which will enable all members of the team to checkout design layers or individual objects from a central model, make changes and then check back in. Offline working is possible too. You don't need to employ complex referencing models when working as part of a team.

MODEL THE SITE

Vectorworks Architect includes site modelling tools for creating accurate models of the terrain. Use the Site Modifiers tool to make changes to the contours, apply flat areas, or simply re-texture the surface of the model. The site model stores both the existing site levels and proposed levels, to give accurate cut and fill.

CONCEPT BUILDING DESIGN

Create building concepts using a variety of methods and processes. For example, start with a layout of Spaces and allow Vectorworks to create the structure of the building automatically, using Walls, Curtain Walls and Slabs. Or, create buildings from scratch using the Push/Pull, Deform and Subdivision Modelling tools.

DETAILED BUILDING DESIGN

Vectorworks Architect includes an extensive range of building content—wall styles, curtain wall styles, slab styles, roof styles, window and door styles. It's easy to create your own elements and store them in a library to make them available for future projects, and to share across the team. Resources are easily accessible with the new Resource Manager. Once the model is complete, you can present plans, sections, elevations all from a single model. Prefer to work in a more traditional 2D manner? That's fine too. You have the full range of 2D drafting tools at your disposal too.

INTERIOR DESIGN

For Interior Architecture and Interior Design, Vectorworks Architect with Renderworks is an invaluable tool. The Resource Manager libraries are packed with building and furnishing elements to help bring your schemes to life. The integrated rendering engine,  Renderworks, enables you to add realistic lighting and textures to models and produce stunning visuals.

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM)

Vectorworks Architect is fully compatible with IFC, making it easy to participate in BIM projects, as long as the project is compatible with open standards. All building and site elements include BIM data that can be customised as required for sharing in IFC format. If you've modelled unique elements from scratch, you can easily attach IFC data and ensure that your objects are included in the BIM data drop.
